The Invitation To Follow
In Luke 5, we read about the invitation that Jesus issued to the first disciples.
Crowds had gathered to listen to Jesus. The night before, Peter and his friends had worked hard fishing, but they caught nothing. Jesus got into one of the boats and asked Peter to take him out where the water was deeper and let down the nets.
Turning From Our Selfish Ways
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow Me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”
Taking Your Next Step
Twenty-nine years ago, I felt like I was on the edge of a cliff with nowhere to go but to take a leap of faith. Finally, I decided to take a risk. Truly, I came to the end of myself. I had searched for love in all the wrong places and found rejection, confusion, loneliness and heartache.
Inside every person is a desire to leave the ordinary behind and experience the extraordinary, perfect plan of the Lord for living life with passion and purpose – longing to make a difference in this world.
